It may be 83 degrees in Boston today, but that is obviously not typical of fall weather out here. While I am enjoying the sun and soaking it up while I can, I wanted to share some fun ideas for a rainy day by putting a spotlight on one of my favorite new blogs, Picklebums. The author, Kate, posted two free printables, complete with songs, on her blog that made Abby’s day a week ago when it was raining hard. We sang to each other and quacked and ribbitted our way to exhaustion. The internet is such a wonderful way to find new ways of connecting with my toddler. I am truly grateful for blogs like this one that make that easier and a lot more fun! Just click on the images below to go to the Picklebum page, then download the file, print, cut them out and tape them to a post of some kind (Popsicle sticks, or I used skewers with the sharp bits cut off) and voila!
Kate is also hosting a month of Perfectly Imperfect posts about celebrating and accepting the true you instead of constantly measuring yourself against an impossible ideal that you fall short of.
For moms I think this is an especially important topic since we wear so many hats and we have so much we feel we have to live up to. I’ve been inspired by Kate from the pickle farm this week to appreciate how great life really is instead of focusing on what it is not. I will be posting my own “perfectly imperfect” post soon.
And in that vein I thought I would leave you with these two blog posts that are also honest and up lifting.
1. How About Orange‘s free printable bunting that reminds you of how fabulous you are. I’m thinking about hanging them in Abby’s room like I saw here on the Wonderful Joy Ahead blog.
2. How Joyful‘s wonderful post about staying sane and her free printable reminder.
Do you have a blog that inspires you? Any great rainy day ideas you’d like to share?
